A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in El Paso, Texas partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local U.S. veteran with a donation. Along with a donation, a residential housing “Boot Camp” was held to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to excellently handle the home purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The honoree at the event was U.S.Army veteran Steve Mills. After completing his service, Steve saw the great need to help veterans in El Paso. With volunteers and his own funds, Steve founded Veterans Non-Profit, a food pantry that each month serves the families of more than 400 veterans. In addition, Veterans Non-Profit has a pet food pantry for veterans having trouble feeding their service animals. On top of all this, Veterans Non-Profit organizes support groups for veterans with PTSD. Fairway Independent Mortgage branches in El Paso teamed with the American Warrior Initiative to surprise Steve with a donation of $7,500 to help fund his amazing mission of serving his local community.
Trino Garcia, sales manager for The Wood Group of Fairway in El Paso, loved being a part of this wonderful event. He said,
“The entire team at The Wood Group in El Paso was honored to participate today. This was a great opportunity to improve the way we all serve our neighbors in El Paso. But even more than that, it was a way to honor veterans and help support their needs right here in our community. That’s what it is all about.”
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. The AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.Tags: Veterans
